A bit about myself:  I am a Licensed Massage Practitioner and a 2005 graduate of the Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri in Columbia.  I have over 600 credit hours in the healing arts. I love to keep my education up to date. On my site you will find many new modalites through the up coming years.  I'm also a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association and certified through the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Body Work. I enjoy helping people reduce the stress of daily living.  My desire to serve with massage comes from my distinct affinity of touch.  I enjoy working with the elements of the body, mind, emotion, and spirit to achieve non-medicinal healing.  My abilities are based on the study of anatomy, fitness, and therapeutic massage training.

Must be at 28 weeks or further in pregnancy to have this massage.

Reiki- Energy work that establishes a deeper mind/body/spirit connection, this energy work soothes the body and mind by creating a deep state of calm and relaxation. The concentration is on breathing techniques, balancing of the charkas and energy system within the body. This is a great add on to any massage session.

Reflexology- This involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the feet, hands, and ears which will correspond to other parts of the body. Sometimes referred to as zone therapy, this bodywork involves application of pressure to reflex zones, stimulating body organs and relieving areas of congestion.

Myokinetic Treatment-  If  any massage treatment above does not take care of your problem or if your problem comes back in a few days, there is another treatment I can do. It is a soft tissue treatment geared to impact the nervous system in a specific way. There are no oils or creams, you don't have to get undressed, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes, it is geared to get rid of your specific complaint and here is what it cost $40. If you are interested, call me and we can set up a MyoKinesthetic Treatment with in 3 days. It has completelly changed the way I practiced! Add a relaxing massage treatment to this session and you will walk out of here feeling like a new you!

How often should you do a MyoKinesthetic Treatement?

Phase 1: Two days in a row one day off until patient holds treatment.

Phase 2: Two times a week, every 3-4 days, until patient holds treatment.

Phase 3: One time a week, until patient holds treatment.

Phase 4: One time every two weeks, until patient holds treatment.

Phase 5: One treatment per month, until patient holds treatement.

How does the patient know if he/she held treatment?

When he/she comes in and their symptoms are gone, posture is balanced and range of motion is full, then they held their treatment. When this happens, no treatment is given, therefore that visit is FREE. I do not charge when a patient comes in and has held their treatment!

    How will massage feel?

Massage on normal tissue is almost always a pleasant sensation. Massage in the area of injury or chronic pain may at first cause some discomfort which usually lessens noticeably in the first few minutes. Your massage therapist knows ways to minimize pain, and will work carefully within what feels right to you. Always tell your massage therapist if you feel any discomfort so she can make adjustments.

    Is massage always appropriate?

There are some conditions for which massage is not appropriate. Always tell your massage therapist if you have a medical problem, even a minor one. Also let your primary health care practitioner know you are receiveing massage. Some conditions require close communication between your massage therapist and your doctor or other health practitioner. Your massage therapist will gladly provide regular progress reports.

    About Massage Therapy

Does pain or restricted movement keep you from living the life you want? Sports injuries, household accidents, repetitive actions on the job, and tension from everyday stresses can all cause problems that, too often, take up permanent residence in our bodies.

Massage can help. Massage is a gentle therapy that can relieve pain and, in combination with other appropriate healthcare measures, can help heal certain conditions and prevent their return. In some cases massage can reduce or even eliminate the need for medications or surgery.

What can Massage Therapy help me with?

Massage is one of the best known antidotes for stress. Reducing stress gives you more energy, improves your outlook on life, and in the process reduces your likelihood of injury and illness. Massage can also relieve symptoms of conditions that are aggravated by anxiety such as asthma or insomnia. Because it relieves stress, massage is an excellent supportive therapy for people in psycological counselling or treatment for addiction.

    Fluid retention

Massage increases your circulation which in turns drains tissues of excess fluid.

    Painful or tight muscles

Massage can relieve many types of muscle tightness, from a short-term muscle cramp to a habitually clenched jaw or tight shoulders. Some massage techniques release tension directly by stretching and kneading your muscles and their connective tissue coverings (called fascia). Other techniques work less directly, but quiet powerfully, by stimulating your nervous system to allow your muscles to relax.

    Delayed muscle soreness

After vigorous exercise, buildiup of waste products as well as micro-traumas in your muscles can leave you feeling tired and sore. Massage increases circulation, which removes waste products and brings in nutrients to speed healing of muscles tissue.

Pain or tingling in your arms or legs

Muscles can become so contracted that they press on nerves to the arms, hands, and legs, causing pain or tingling. If this happens, a massage to release muscle spasms in the shoulder or hip may bring relief.

    Injuries

Massage can help heal injuries such as tendonitis that develops over time, as well as ligament sprains or muscle strains caused by an accident. Massage reduces inflamation by increasing circulation, which removes waste producst and brings nutrition to injured cells. Certain massage techniques can limit scar formation in new injuries and can make scar tissue more pliable around old injuries.

    Secondary pain

Massage can relieve secondary pain that outl ast its original cause. Some examples are headaches from eyestrain, low back ache during pregnancy, or the protective tensing of healthy muscles around an injury.

    Prevention of new injuries

By relieving chronic tension, massage can help prevent injuries that might be caused by stressing unbalanced muscles groups, or by favoring or forcing a painfull, restricted area.

    Pain or restriction in joints

Besides releasing tight muscles that restrict joint movement, massage works directly on your joints to improve circulation, stimulate production of natural lubrication, and relieves pain from conditions such as osetoarthritis.

    Posture

Massage releases restrictions in muscles, joints, and surrounding fascia, freeing your body to return to a more natural posture. Massage can also relieve the contracted muscles and pain caused by abnormal spinal curvatures such as scoliosis.
